“Mriia. Post-Education”: The Major EdTech Event of the Year Organised by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Education and Science (8 April 2025)
On 8 April 2025, Ukraine hosted “Mriia. Post-education”, the first EdTech event organised by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The event showcased AI tools for teachers, gamification of the learning process, a dashboard with results for parents, and plans to connect new schools to the “Mriia” platform. Andrii Lytvynchuk, Director of the State Scientific Institution “Institute of Educational Analytics”, Ph.D. in Economics, Senior Researcher, attended the event.
“Last year, we launched a pilot version of a new application for Ukrainian schools – Mriia – a unique solution with few parallels worldwide. Ukraine is at the forefront of such technological innovations. We have integrated virtually all aspects of school education into one convenient digital system: learning materials, grade books, assessments, homework and information for parents. Mriia systematically simplifies the school learning process. It enables children in all parts of our vast country – from frontline communities to every city, village and school – to have equal and full access to education”, said President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
“Mriia is an educational game changer. For parents and children, it’s a convenient application that simplifies the learning process. For teachers, it’s a portal and application that removes bureaucracy and simplifies interaction with learners to a single click. And for the state, Mriia provides quality data about the education system. Thanks to Mriia, we can effectively transform the education system, catch up on educational losses, and in real time understand which solutions work. All this will allow us to realise our mission – to build an education system capable of forming professional and happy people for a new innovative economy. To nurture citizens capable of protecting themselves and their homes from any threats”, noted Mykhailo Fedorov, Vice Prime Minister for Innovations, Development of Education, Science and Technologies – Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
What new and improved features of Mriia were presented at the first EdTech event “Mriia. Post-Education”?
- Teachers will soon be able to generate tests in Mriia with just a few clicks thanks to artificial intelligence, receive completed homework from pupils, create inter-class groups and more.
- Mriia has introduced an internal currency for children – “mriiky” – which they can earn for academic achievements and exchange for rewards such as cinema tickets, masterclasses or VR quests.
- Starting from the new school year, parents and children will be able to select extracurricular clubs near their homes or schools.
- School administrators will be able to view teacher performance results in just a few clicks, without having to access detailed logs.
The team has already begun developing Mriia for preschool, marking the first time two levels of education will be integrated into a single digital ecosystem.
“Our goal was not just to digitise paper-based documentation, but to completely rethink the approach to managing the educational process – to make it more efficient, flexible and up-to-date. Mriia is a tool that transforms education from the inside out, allowing everyone involved – from pupils to school principals – to focus on what really matters: the quality of knowledge and the development of each child”, said Oksen Lisovyi, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.
Teachers using Mriia have already automated calendar and thematic planning, timetable creation, journal management, and the entry of provisional (“pencil-in”) grades. They can attach notes and files to lessons, share comments not tied to marks, and communicate with pupils and parents via secure chats. Mriia enables the full management of the educational process within a single digital environment, eliminating the need to use paper records or additional digital tools in parallel.
Children have access to their Mriia ID, timetable, homework, personalised content library and performance tracking on their smartphone. Parents, in turn, can view their child’s key achievements all in one place.
Who can join Mriia and how?
Any school can join Mriia, regardless of its size, teaching format, location, or whether it currently uses another educational information system. Local authorities can introduce Mriia to all schools within their community or region. Mriia will always remain free and voluntary: each institution independently decides whether to join and can already apply via the following link: mriia.gov.ua/app.
Currently, 150 schools are connected to Mriia, and the Mriia team is processing a further 1,400 applications from education institutions.
“Mriia is a vivid example of how the joint efforts of the government, international partners, educators and civil society can deliver real and tangible results. Thanks to the support of the Swiss government and fruitful cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Mriia is already transforming the lives of thousands of Ukrainian pupils, teachers and parents“, said Victor Liakh, President of the East Europe Foundation.
“Ukraine’s digital transformation, even amid a full-scale war, is impressive and inspiring. Switzerland is proud to support Mriia and, more broadly, the development of digital education in Ukraine. This initiative is a powerful example of successful and effective international cooperation”, said Jacques Gerber, Swiss Federal Council Delegate for Ukraine.
Mriia is a web portal and mobile application that provides users with a daily planner, schedule builder, performance tracking, secure chat, a personalised content library from leading educational platforms, Mriia ID, and more. The pilot of Mriia started in September 2024 in six regions of Ukraine – in frontline cities, remote mountain villages, completely remote schools and institutions running face-to-face classes in shelters.
Mriia is an initiative of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, implemented by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Education and Science, in partnership with the EGAP Programme, implemented by the Eastern Europe Foundation with the support of the Swiss government.
