Results of the study of the introduction of new approaches to teaching in elementary school (questionnaire of the third grade teachers)

The report presents the results of a monitoring study of the process of introducing new approaches to primary school education (V monitoring stage – in the context of teaching students in the 3rd pilot schools). The monitoring research was conducted by the State Scientific Institution “Institute of Educational Analytics” in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The fifth stage of the monitoring study lasted from October 8 to October 20, 2019. The purpose of the study was to identify the features of the process of introducing new approaches to primary school education.
Within the framework of the monitoring, a quantitative data collection strategy was applied, the ultimate goal of which was to obtain statistically reliable data. The study involved 129 schools selected by the Ministry of Education and Science as pilot. Respondents were teachers – participants in the experiment. The sample of teachers was solid. The questionnaire survey of teachers – the survey participants was conducted using the online survey method and the Google Forms service.
The study found that in the third year of the experiment there is an increase in the positive assessment of the statements about the results of the experiment to introduce new approaches to elementary school.
National research of the New Ukrainian School Concept implementation process in General Secondary Education Institutions (Questionnaire of elementary school teachers)

A nationwide research of the New Ukrainian School Concept (hereinafter NUS) implementation process in General Secondary Education Institutions was conducted 15 – 25 July 2019 by the State Scientific Institution “Institute of Educational Analytics” with the participation of the State Scientific Institution “Institute of Education Content Modernization” and with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The purpose of the research was to capture the progress of the NUS reform in the first year of its implementation, as well as to identify the links between a number of components of the NUS and the expected learning outcomes of students.
The sample of the research was formed on the basis “city-village”. The survey respondents are elementary school teachers who taught in grade 1 in 2018/2019 and parents of students who studied in grade 1 in 2018/2019. The survey was conducted using an online survey in Google Forms. The research found that, in general, the interaction of students and adults (teachers and parents of students) on the principles of partnership pedagogy gives good educational results, contributes to the formation of a positive attitude to school and study from first graders. Maintaining an interest in learning and wanting to go to school is one of the challenges that the NUS concept is about to overcome. The study found that children liked and more liked going to school. One of the main reasons why a child is happy to go to school is a liked teacher, and also new friends. An indicator of a successful start of the NUS is the attitude of parents to the new school, who for the most part evaluated their child’s educational achievements in different competencies at the end of the first grade as “very good” and “quite good”.
The findings of the study will form the basis for determining the correlation between the components of the NUS to eliminate the risks and improve the quality of secondary education.
Study of quality of preschool education: components of educational environment

This analytical report highlights the results of Ukrainian study of quality of preschool education. The study was conducted by the State Scientific Institution “Institute of Educational Analytics” in collaboration with Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine from 9 to 19 April 2019. The purpose of the study was to identify available material, technical and human resources that affect the quality of preschool education.
The study involved using of descriptive research strategy that provided a description of the quantitative and qualitative features and characteristics of the subject of research. The online questionnaire was used to gather primary information. Respondents included the principals, teachers of preschool institutions and parents of preschool institutions’ pupils. The survey was conducted on the basis of a probabilistic stratified single-stage sampling.
The study found that participants of educational process in institutions of preschool education note positive changes and assess the educational environment as a quality and comfortable for children. It is necessary to conduct additional researches that will provide current and substantive information about the process of implementation of high-quality preschool education.
Monitoring of implementation of new approaches to primary school education

This report highlights the results of monitoring of implementation of new approaches to primary school education (third and fourth stage of study were conducted in the context of pupils’ education in the second grade of pilot schools). The monitoring study was conducted by the State Scientific Institution “Institute of Educational Analytics” in collaboration with Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Third stage of monitoring lasted from 11 December 2018 to 9 January 2019, fourth stage of monitoring lasted from 22 May to 4 June 2019. The purpose of the study was to determine the peculiarities of the process of implementation of new approaches to primary school education.
The study involved using of quantitative strategy of data collection that implies obtaining of statistically reliable data. The study involved 100 schools that were selected by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine as pilot schools. Respondents included the principals, deputy directors and teachers. The sample of directors, deputy directors and teachers provides that each member of the general population enter the sample. Sampling consisted of panels of four directors, four deputies and eight teachers from each region of Ukraine. The online questionnaire and Google Forms service were used to gather primary information.
The study found that at the end of the school year, there was a positive increase of assertions’ estimation about the results of the experiment.

The presentation shows that the creation of education management information systems (EMIS) of the third generation (EMIS for graduate tracer studies) is relevant for Ukraine. Such systems allow setting up the interrelation between the results of higher education impact on a person and his or her activities in the labor market. This is very important information that can give universities and education authorities reasonable grounds for changing the curricula, as well as the approaches to the higher education financing, and changing the “higher education quality” paradigm to increase the competitiveness of this sphere in the global competitive space.

Analytical report on the results of implementation process monitoring of new approaches to elementary school education (1st grade)

The report presents the results of introducing process new approaches to primary school education monitoring study (Phase I of the research – questionnaire survey of participants of the experiment). The research was conducted in October 2017 using a quantitative data collection strategy to obtain statistically reliable data. Respondents are regional coaches, directors of general secondary schools, on the basis of which an all-Ukrainian experiment “Development and implementation of educational and methodological provision of primary education in the conditions of realization of the new State standard of primary general secondary education”, teachers of the first pilot classes, parents of students. The research tool is a paper questionnaire, with a total of 1414 respondents (143 teachers, 84 school principals, 29 regional coaches, 1158 first-graders` parents). Based on the results of the first monitoring phase, conclusions were formulated and recommendations made.
