A Round Table Discussion “European Union Erasmus+ Programme: Current Opportunities for Ukrainian Participants” Held (10 December 2025, Kyiv)

On 10 December 2025, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine hosted a round table discussion titled “European Union Erasmus+ Programme: Current Opportunities for Ukrainian Participants”. The event was organised by the Ministry of Education and Science jointly with the Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine as part of the Erasmus+ Information Weeks. The discussion was moderated by Serhii Shkabko, Head of the European Integration Expert Group of the Directorate for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of the Ministry.

More than 100 participants joined the event in a hybrid format, including Vice-Rectors for International Cooperation, staff of international relations offices, and institutional Erasmus+ coordinators. The round table programme is available via the link.

During the opening session, Mykola Trofymenko, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, presented the national priorities for preparing project proposals under the 2026 Erasmus+ calls and emphasised the importance of aligning them with Ukraine’s European integration trajectory. He underlined that Ukraine’s participation in the Programme should serve as a tool for deepening international partnerships, developing the competences of academic staff and students, and strengthening the institutional capacity of educational establishments.

The thematic sessions focused on presenting the national educational priorities for participating in the Programme’s calls, outlining the pathways towards Ukraine’s associated participation in Erasmus+, and showcasing progress in implementing international technical assistance projects for which the Ministry is a beneficiary. Participants discussed the specifics of engaging different categories of students and university staff in Programme activities, modern European educational tools, and institutional requirements for enhancing the quality of international cooperation and mobility.

Special attention was given to the role of international initiatives for educational institutions, including those with a security focus. International projects not only strengthen the academic dimension, but also contribute to fostering a professional culture based on cooperation, diversity and high standards. For universities, this offers an opportunity to reassess their priorities, expand partnership networks and reinforce the practical training of future professionals.

The State Scientific Institution “Institute of Educational Analytics” was represented at the event by Hanna Tereshchenko, Deputy Director for Research and Organisational Affairs. In her presentation, she provided an overview of the Institute’s activities as the national unit of the Eurydice network in Ukraine and delivered a report titled Eurydice Educational Information System: Publication and Updating of Data on Ukrainian Education. The presentation highlighted the importance of the Eurydice network for developing evidence-based and comparative education policy, the specifics of preparing and updating the national description of Ukraine’s education system in line with European methodological approaches, Ukraine’s participation in the preparation of Eurydice comparative reports, and its contribution to the network’s communication strategy. It was also emphasised that the Eurydice network brings together a wide range of educational stakeholders, and attention was drawn to the opportunities for using its analytical materials and data and learning more about the possibilities Eurydice offers for educational institutions and researchers.

The round table proved to be an important platform for exchanging experience, discussing strategic approaches to Ukraine’s participation in the EU Erasmus+ Programme and strengthening the European dimension of Ukrainian education.
