An expert discussion of the problems and perspectives of the development of informational and analytical support for education management with the participation of the international community was initiated
On the initiative of the State Scientific Institution “Institute of Educational Analytics” (SSI “IEA”), on November 30, 2017, a Kyiv-based World Bank office hosted a round table “Informational and analytical ensuring the management of the educational system in the context of implementing the norms of the Law of Ukraine “On education”: problems and perspectives”, which raised the urgent issues of development of information support of the domestic sphere of education.
In his opening address, Director for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova, World Bank Satu Kakhkonen stressed the importance and timeliness of holding such a round table and outlined the prospects for further development of information and analytical support for education management. Lucia Kasap, World Bank Worldwide Operations Director for Education in Global Practice in Moldova, reported on the international experience of using the Education Management Information Systems (EMIS).
Volodymyr Kovtunets, the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, in his speech, emphasized the necessity of forming a strategy for the development of educational statistics in Ukraine and identified relevant priorities and tasks. Taras Kremin, Head of the Subcommittee on Preschool, General Secondary, Inclusive Education of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Science and Education, introduced the ways of reforming educational approaches in the field of education.
Sergiy Londar, acting Director of the SSI “IEA” presented approaches to modernizing the State Information System of Education (DISO) in the context of the implementation of the provisions of the Law of Ukraine “On Education” and taking into account best international experience.
Participants of the round table, among them, were representatives of the EU and the embassies of France, Finland, USA, representatives of the departments of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, public organizations, took part in the discussion on ways to develop information and analytical support for education management, provided suggestions on the implementation of international standards for the collection and processing of statistical information in the field of education.
The developed materials will be used to improve the regulatory framework in the preparation of new education laws and the further development of international relations in the educational sphere.
